Customer services:

  • Shop: No, but a guidebook is available.
  • Tea Room/ Restaurant: Teas and coffees are served at weekends and bank holidays and can be arranged for groups.
  • WC: Full toilet block with disabled facilities by entrance.
  • Parking: Free car park
  • Seats and benches – location frequency: It is suspected Harold Peto designed many of the features to be rested upon; so many decorative features seem to function suspiciously well as resting spots. In addition to this there are numerous benches and seats around the garden.
  • Average visitor duration: Anything from 30 minutes to 3 hours.
  • Accessibility: Visitors are encouraged to call far ahead for advice. Separate parking is available at the top of the gardens and with warning transport can be arranged from the bottom to the tops. A modern PMV can navigate most of the garden and the terraces afford good intervisibility.

Children’s programme/ events or other educational activities: No

Maps of sites/ visitor information etc: Only in the guidebook.

Transport:

  • Road: When approaching Iford from the south via the A36, the first sign you see for ‘Light Vehicles Only ’leads into a narrow approach road. It is advised to continue to the village of Freshford, where a wider more appropriate entrance is advised.
  • By foot: Iford is on the MacMillan way.
  • Public Transport: Nearest train station is Bath Spa.
