Customer services:

  • Shop: A small gift shop can be found at the palace entrance.
  • Tea Room/ Restaurant: The licensed restaurant is situated in the Medieval Undercroft. As members of Taste of the West, the Palace restaurant supports local growers and suppliers. Additional Terrace cafe.
  • WC: Full WC facilities by the restaurant.
  • Parking: Use the city centre car parks. The Bishop’s Palace is a short walk from all central car parks.
  • Seats and benches: Plentiful seating is scattered around the grounds. A picnic area can be found in the arboretum.
  • Average visitor duration: 1 to 3 hours.
  • Accessibility: The gardens are relatively flat with wide smooth pavements running throughout. A stairclimber can be provided within the palace.
  • Guide dogs welcome.

No maps provided. A guidebook can be purchased. Some information can be provided in both French and German. Information panels are dotted around the park.

  • Rail: The nearest railway station is Bath Spa or Castle Cary. A bus link can be taken too Wells.
  • Bus: A variety of buses run to Bishop’s Palace which is a 10 minute walk from the bus stop. Disability Access on the 375/376.
